Hey everybody!! Before talking about today’s post, I just want to thank everyone for your kind comments and taking the time to read/view my posts! I am very humbled by your support and I will try my best to bring out good and new content for everyone!! Honestly, I was so lazy to edit today’s post and wanted to just give up on making it look more “aesthetic”, but I decided to throw away those thoughts and just put my whole heart into this post! I am also thinking of starting an email subscription for my blog, but I’m not sure yet, so let me know in the comments below!
Okay, so basically I went to Damyang with two of my friends, and I’m so blessed because they drove me around and showed me around Damyang! Damyang is very close to Gwangju, so it’s perfect for a day trip! We went to the Metasequoia-Lined Road first, because I heard how pretty it looked! Honestly, it’ll look so pretty in fall… but I was there when the weather was transitioning to summer. There’s also a lot of shops and eateries near the metasequoia-lined road so you can spend some time walking around! I didn’t take photos of the place, but I vlogged it! Vlog will be at the bottom of this post! I’ve also included the English + Korean addresses for the places visited!
Juknokwon is a short drive away from the Metasequoia-lined Road! It is the famous bamboo forest in Korea! We ate bamboo flavoured ice-cream while walking to the entrance. It was a very conflicting taste imo, it tasted like vanilla ice cream to me with a very very veryyyyy faint taste of something that supposed to taste like bamboo I guess?
There were a lot of Koreans visiting that day, so it didn’t feel like a tourist attraction, which I liked! The bamboo forest was so cooling, is it because there were plenty of trees and plants? (then why is Singapore so hot!! ㅡ irrelevant whining, ignore me 😂)
The place just felt very peaceful, and I would definitely say it’s a place worth visiting even if you’re travelling alone. I’m not a very city life person when it comes to travelling, I like going to beaches because I like the ocean, which is weird because I can’t swim lol. I’m also a person that would rather look at mountains as compared to cityscape.
You see those empty chairs in the photo below? We just laid there and stared at the sky. The breeze, the sound of nature… everything else just faded away in that moment.

After exploring Juknokwon (a lot more than bamboos, gotta visit to experience it), we decided it was time for lunch. Damyang is famous for two things ㅡ Galbi and Guksu! I wasn’t in the mood for something heavy, so we decided on Guksu! This was probably the day version of dining under the stars, the weather was perfect as well! Tables lined along the road, and people would just enjoy their lunch under the trees. I fell in love with this place immediately, I wouldn’t have been able to experience if not for my friends! Getting a seat during the lunch hour was slightly competitive 😂 but I assure you it’ll be worth it. There are four restaurants along the road, but I went to the last one (or first one depending which side of the road you’re at)

Last stop in Damyang was a cafe I chanced upon when I was searching Instagram tags for places to go. It’s called Supply Coffee and Market. It’s located in a relatively secluded area, took us a while to find it. But if you follow the instructions on Google Maps, and don’t doubt yourself, you’ll find it for sure!! They serve coffee, desserts and it was surprisingly packed! The neighbourhood felt so empty yet the cafe was bustling with life. Get your Instagram shots, cool down with a cuppa and continue your journey! For me, I went back to Gwangju after this as my friend had an appointment in the evening.

Damyang was really beautiful, a small town with loads to offer, I really enjoyed the Bamboo Forest and I will be back in Autumn, one day, to see the beautiful Metasequoia-lined trees for myself! I hope you enjoyed this post and do visit Damyang if you have the chance! Check out my vlog below if you’re interested! I’ll see you in my next post on Wednesday, 💕
