I have a confession to make. When I first started venturing into K-beauty, I really stuck to the 7 step routine, 11 step routine, etc etc. I thought the idea of using so many products to help target different skin issues was amazing! However, after a while, I realized that these products aren’t making such a huge difference to my skin! I was baffled, and I was wondering why I stuck to the routine, I followed everything the skincare community was saying, and then I realised, skin care doesn’t have to be this complicated. If 7 steps work for you, go ahead, but for me, I realised, simple is enough for my skin.
The number of products I slathered onto my skin was only causing my skin to get clogged by the overwhelming amount of goodness. I could imagine my skin narrating “what do you want me to absorb when you’re giving me this much stuff?!”
As a guy, I realised that even though our skin is generally thicker compared to the females, our skin tends to get clogged easily, maybe because of the larger pores we have? I’m not very sure about that, but I realised with the correct toner, moisturizer and products, I could counter the issues my skin had without even following the 7-step routine.
The 7-step routine’s purpose, in my opinion, is to emphasize the importance of cleansing, and moisturizing because that’s all the skin needs. To be properly moisturized and maintained of its oil-water balance. Nowadays, I just cleanse, tone and moisturize. (oh and eye cream) And that’s the end of my beauty routine! I tend to exfoliate, chemically and physically, once in a while and sheet mask once in a while as well.
One amazing toner I came across during this skincare journey is the Klairs Supple Preparation Toner. Amazingly, my skin drinks this like it’s a water-deprived desert. Especially after days when I get exposed to the sun too much. This toner is amazing, and I remember having a conversation with a friend, we both agreed the toner feels different because it really does makes the skin feel “supple-ier,” which is amazing because not many toners make me feel this way.
I have no issues with the original formula, but Klairs came up with an unscented version, and I used it, it smells like nothing, literally, unscented. But it feels exactly like the original toner, my skin absorbs this as well, no breakouts or anything, just being an amazing toner.
Klairs have been one of my favourite brands ever since I discovered them, and I’m always amazed by the products they come up with because so far they all work!! (maybe the sunscreen not so much for me heehee)
So what’s the difference between the two?
The Unscented Toner does not contain any essential oils. It is lightweight and as wonderfully hydrating and non-irritating as the original. This version specially caters to consumers who are sensitive and allergic to natural essential oils. So if you’re trying this for the first time, I suggest going straight for the unscented version!
Personally, I like the original version because I’m okay with products that are scented because they kinda calm me down (lol)
