I love staying in Airbnbs when travelling! I feel that they offer a more ‘homely’ vibe to your travel. Also, don’t you find that when you stay in hotels, the surroundings are too targeted towards tourists, so you don’t get a taste of how the locals live like! I love how there is an Airbnb that can suit anyone and everyone ㅡ you can live in a resort, a cabin or even just a local’s house! This was my experience when I stayed in an Airbnb in Bangkok for three nights.
One thing I learnt when finding the right Airbnb, is that the location plays an important role! You could have an Airbnb that looks majestic, but it could be located in the middle of nowhere! Especially if you’re hoping to save some money by taking public transport, staying next to a train station could help! This place I stayed in Bangkok, is near an MRT station and only a few stops away from the Airport.
Being in a new country can be confusing and difficult at times, but remember that your Airbnb host is someone you can seek help from! They are the most knowledgeable in terms of places to go, things to do and see. My Bangkok Airbnb host recommended places to go and see, also she responded to my queries so quickly! Make full use of your resources and this will help you get most out of your trip!
The best part about this Airbnb is the neighbourhood! The place I stayed in was filled with street vendors! How do I know this place is as local as it can get? None of them spoke English, at all. We communicated by hand gestures and I guess when it comes to food, somehow everything is understandable/universal 😅
Most of the stores sell out by 1-2pm, so it’s great for breakfast or brunch! We ate the fried chicken for three days!! Super delicious, I can’t even begin to describe it 😍 There were also boat noodle vendors (the broth was a-ma-zing), Thai milk tea stores and even a seafood restaurant at the corner! I honestly felt I could just stay in the Airbnb (watch TV and sleep the whole day) and go nowhere because so much food is available near the Airbnb!
Best thing is when a convenience store is just around the corner, you can get all your daily necessities and cup noodles!! I always feel a holiday abroad is incomplete unless you eat cup noodles!
Ultimately, a great Airbnb experience comes from researching where you want to stay. Just like the different Thai Milk Tea options available (a fan of green milk tea btw), there is always an Airbnb suited for you. Gym and swimming pool required? There’s definitely one out there! Near the airport, no issue! It’s nice to experience a different accommodation once in a while, skip the hotels and try Airbnb! Honestly, don’t know why this is starting to sound like an advertisement LOL, but yeah I had such a great Airbnb experience so I just wanted to share it with you guys! 😘
If you’re interested in this Airbnb, it’s this listing right here. I don’t get paid or anything by sharing this so just letting you know that! Thanks for reading and see you guys in my next post! 👋
