Finally back here to update on my Bangkok trip!! When I think of Bangkok, I think of night markets! What about you? This being my first trip to BKK, I definitely needed to check out some of the famous night markets!! First stop was Talad Neon Downtown Night Market!
This place was kind of difficult to navigate (actually not that difficult, just a bit lazy to walk after realizing how cheap Grab is in Bangkok) but I think cabbing there directly was easier.
I think we reached the market too early, because some stalls were still setting up, so I definitely recommend going when the sun has set. There were a lot of clothing stalls target towards female audiences, (a lot of korean influence) and also a lot of stalls selling food and fun gimmicky stuff! (I’m talking about you, fidget spinner)
We found a spot to have an early dinner (because there’s definitely going to be another round of eating at the next night market!) and this was probably the spiciest thing I had on this trip!! I kind of forget what it’s called, but here’s a photo of what we ate below! I really liked the atmosphere of the night market after the sun set, so I think we definitely made a mistake going early (but you know can avoid the crowd hehehe)
1087 New Petchaburi Rd, Khwaeng Makkasan, Khet Ratchathewi, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon 10400, Thailand
Opening Hours: 4pm to 12am
Closed on Mondays and Tuesday
Rot Fai Ratchada Market is probably one of my favourite markets in BKK! It is only closed on Mondays, and is open from 5pm to 1am!! Also, this market is so closely located to our Airbnb, making it easier for us!!
The amount of food here is amazing!! I had the best grilled chicken skewer here, and we couldn’t find it the next day we went because we forget where we bought it from 😂There’s also a live band here (not exactly sure which day has live band BUT sunday one was dope)
This area feels lively, more youthful and more exciting basically!! We even saw some Thai celebrities filming (?) not sure but seemed like it, everyone was taking photos of them and there was a huge camera following them HAHA. If you’re going in a group, I recommend everyone splitting up and buy different food items, and gathering back at the bar, because you can bring the food you bought and eat it there, just need to order a drink. Which is not a bad idea, because you get to soak in the atmosphere with the live band playing!
Really recommend Rot Fai Ratchada Market because it’s just a walk away from the MRT station, and also for the atmosphere, the food, the live band and the beer!! I think a lot of night markets are not open on Mon/Tues but Rot Fai is open on Tuesdays so you can place this in your itinerary if you don’t know what to do!
